Ash Wednesday Worship Servie: February 22nd

The Season of Lent begins this year on Feb. 22. Throughout Christian history the church has seen this six-week long period as a special opportunity to deepen ones faith through practices like worship, prayer, and repentance. Ash Wednesday is the first day in this season and marks the beginning of our Lenten journey toward Good Friday and Easter. We will gather at Immanuel to begin this journey on Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m. for an Ash Wednesday service. Join us as we focus our hearts in prayer, song, scripture, and the imposition of ashes.

Immanuel’s Book Club: February 25th

This month the book club is featuring two short American Classics, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee and The Watsons go to Birmingham—1963, by Christopher Paul Curtis. Both books are family friendly and we encourage your entire family to read and share these stories together. Most have read or know, To Kill A Mockingbird, but it is worth a re-read. The Watson's go to Birmingham, is a story about “The ordinary interactions and everyday routines of the Watson's, an African American family living in Flint Michigan, are drastically changed after they go to visit Grandma in Alabama in the summer of 1963.” Enjoy these classics, we will discuss them on Sat., February 25 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a potluck dinner.

Ladies' Evening Circle: February 28th

The Ladies Evening Circle will meet Tuesday, February 28, 7:00 p.m.  Please contact the church for location.

Lenten Soup Suppers and Worship Services: starting February 29th

All are invited to these opportunities for fellowship and enrichment on Wednesday evenings during Lent: Feb. 29, Mar. 7, 14, 21, and 28. Each evening’s events will run from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Soup Suppers, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Bring your favorite pot of soup to share. If you don’t have time to make soup, bread and salad are always appreciated. Even if you can’t be there at 6:00, arrive whenever you can between 6-7pm to enjoy the meal.

Lenten Services, 7:00-7:30 p.m. Midweek services are a chance to pray, sing, and focus our busy lives each week during this season. As a highlight of these services, Pr. David, together with our youth, will lead us in a faith exercise based on the 10 Commandments. Five areas of our faith life will be covered:

• Knowing God
• Rest

• Belongings
• The Value of Words
