Education for Adults at Immanuel
The Gathering Hour (Sundays between the worship services): In the past, we have studied The Psalms, discussed the Bishop's Statement from "The Lutheran," and explored the Red Hymnal. The Social Ministry Committee has led a discussion of some of the ELCA Social Statements, and we have focused on topics such as The Magnificat and The Apostle’s Creed.
Saturday Bible Study (“Bible Talk-Back”): This group selects a book of the Bible to read, explores the books within the context of the time period, and discusses how it relates to our world today.
Immanuel Reads: This is Immanuel's book group. We've read books such as The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss, An American In Ghandi’s India by Asha Sharma, The Shack by William P. Young, The Power of Half by Hannah Salwen and Kevin Salwen, Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and The Watsons Go To Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis, among others.Â
