We encourage everyone, especially families to read this âquick readâ book. We will meet to discuss the book on Saturday June 19, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a potluck dinner. The book is available at all book stores and online. The authors are Kevin Salwen and Hannah Salwen, his teenage daughter.

Habitat for Humanity Build Date for Immanuel on Saturday, June 5th: Habitat is building six homes in Morgan Hill in partnership with Thrivent
Financial for Lutherans. In order to qualify for Thrivent funding, half of the
volunteer labor for these homes has to be Lutherans. This is a great chance to
give deserving families a chance at a better life! We have 5-10 volunteer slots
and will be building at the site alongside another local Lutheran church. Doug
Daetz will be organizing a car pool to the site, so if you are interested,
please contact the church. Habitat has upgraded its
web site significantly and you can find information such as âwhat to bringâ and
âguidelines for youth volunteersâ as well as a brief safety video. For all this
and more, please go to: http://habitatsiliconvalley.org. There is no
need to register at the web site since we are signed up as a group. We hope you
can join us on June 5th! |

High Tea Benefit for
Asian Womenâs Shelter: Here's an
opportunity for the women of Immanuel to dust off our best china, and set a
table for our High Tea on Sunday, May 16th, 3:00-5:00 pm. We
need a volunteer or two for each table, so that our Fellowship Hall will look
as bright and festive as an English
Garden. Join us for this
worthwhile cause: a benefit for the Asian Women's Shelter, and help us fill up
our donated baby crib with diapers, clothes, toys and sundries for the children
and their moms. (And how about some of our men folk helping to
serve???) |

Support our youth and recycle at the same
time! Clean out your closets and garage
and bring your unwanted clothing, books, kidâs toys, housewares, sporting
goods, etc., to church. Also, our donations
are much lower this year. This is the last week to bring in your items, so no
more procrastinating! You can consider
asking your friends and neighbors if they are doing any âSpring Cleaningâ and
have donations, too. Remember, all proceeds go to our youth and their wonderful
programs like the summer trip to Mexico.
