Immanuel Lutheran Church Announcements - August 2 - 8, 2010
Invest in Solid “R.O.C.” Reaching Out in Christ (Investments support Youth Mexico Trip): By purchasing shares of stock, you will contribute to providing materials that will build a home for a family in need, the opportunity for the youth to witness God’s unconditional love, and life changing experiences for our youth as well as the families of Florida and Mexico. The “dividends” are endless in the hands of our loving and gracious God. All stockholders will be entitled to attend a “stockholders” meeting on Sunday, August 15th, where photos and souvenirs will be shared, with a question and answer period to evaluate how the investments have grown. Thank You! The youth of Immanuel would like to thank the congregation for their wonderful support. You have been there for us and supported us for our major fundraisers. These fundraisers will help us to travel down to Mexico in order to be disciples of Christ and reach out and touch a family in need. Without your efforts we would not be able to take on this venture. For your prayers, thoughts, and continued help we are grateful. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” [Matthew 28:19-20]
Last Patio Gathering for Pastor David and Carla: Pastor David and Carla would like to get to know the members of Immanuel better through small group gatherings. We know that summer is upon us and people have busy schedules, however, we are approaching our last patio gathering in mid-August and hope you can join us. If you’ve not attended a patio gathering, please RSVP to the host. Sat., Aug. 14, 6:00 p.m. Contact the church office for the host's contact information. (Dinner, bring an appetizer or dessert) “Immanuel Reads” has selected our next book entitled, “The Shack” by William P. Young. We will meet Sat., August 28, at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the book followed by a potluck dinner. Brief description: Mackenzie Allen Phillips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.
Immanuel’s Annual Luau will be held on Sunday, August 29, at 5:00 p.m. This event is for the entire family. Bring your favorite tropical dish to share (appetizer, salad, main dish, dessert) and wine if you’d like. The Fellowship Committee will provide coffee, tea, and juice. Come with your family and enjoy a casual, relaxing evening. We’ll do our best to provide warm tropical breezes and soothing Hawaiian music. Please sign up on the sign-up sheets in the Fellowship Hall. Mahalo!
Immanuel Lutheran's 2nd Annual Invitational Festival of Praise Band Music will be on October 3rd from 4:00-6:00 p.m. More details will follow but we have an exciting lineup of guest bands.
